根據ＦＲＢＲ３。１。１之條文整理出第一組實體之意義如下

| manifestation | the physical embodiment of an expression of a work |
| item | a single exemplar of a manifestation |
對應關係如下文之敘述
The entities defined as work and expression reflect intellectual or artistic content. The entities defined as
manifestation and item , on the other hand, reflect physical form.
The relationships depicted in the diagram indicate that a work may be realized through
one or more than one expression. An expression, is the realization of one and only one work.
An expression may be embodied in one or more than one manifestation; likewise a
manifestation may embody one or more than one expression. A manifestation,
may be exemplified by one or more than one item; but an item may exemplify one and
only one manifestation.

而表達作品的形式成為一個expression
紀錄一個expression的為各種manifestation
manifestation的實體為單一item
又經過參照同篇報告之5. RELATIONSHIPS可理解：
假設今有一作品為蘇莎之華盛頓郵報 則與其相關之實體其關係如
work: The Washington Post, John Philip Sousa (以下簡稱本作品)
(以下簡稱w1)
而其一expression可以是某個管樂A團在一個特定時間的演奏:e1
如果今天有另一個管樂團在不同的時間演奏了這首樂曲那麼就是同一個work之下的另一expression:e2
如果A團當時演奏這部作品並被錄音錄影製作成光碟
那麼這片讀取後可以得到A團當時影像及音樂的光碟就成為了w1之下的e1之下的一個manifestation:m1
如果當時的演奏被另一家錄音公司所錄製並製成只有音檔的CD片那麼這片CD就成為與m1不同的另一個manifestation:m2
也就是w1之下的e1之下的m2
假設A團的演奏可能非常完美,所有人爭相收藏發行的影音光碟
就會出現許多不同的持有者分別持有不同份內容相同的影音光碟的情況,也就是item的持有
可能輔大圖書館持有一份,也就是i1
美國國會圖書館也持有一份,i2
這時i1與i2皆是屬於w1之下的e1之下的m1之下
